EVERYTHING MUST GO
or The Voluntary Attempt to Overcome Unnecessary Obstacles
writer/performer Kristin Fredricksson
Kristin Fredricksson has worked with some of the world’s most innovative theatre artists including: AMK (France), Teatro Bruto (Portugal), Akiko Motofuji (Japan), Romeo Castellucci (Italy), Peepolykus and Ken Campbell. In 2008 she came home to make a show with her Dad - athlete, artist and piss-artist. After appearing in the show three times, he died in June.

EVERYTHING MUST GO is an exploration of a father by a daughter. Kristin uses cinefilm, clowning, dance, puppetry and hurdling to explore her Dad’s life from music hall to dancing on graves. It is reality bordering on fiction.

From the father’s obstacle-course house the audience travels back to his conception after a drunken meeting between a Swedish Sea Captain and an Irish lass who tap-dances to sea-shanties. Passing swiftly over his dosshouse childhood, we encounter the young athlete. He trains for the Olympics by day and dresses up to the nines by night. Meanwhile the sailors and dwarves get pissed on gin with the dancing girls in the kitchen. His photos and Super 8s inhabit the scene and reveal the man. Reality, age and obsession close in. His money-saving schemes become increasingly elaborate, from the secrets of free water to newspaper-stealing shoes. But eventually EVERYTHING MUST GO.
